  1. Hi, I attended the school from the years 1995- 2002. I was in the first nursery class the school ever had and was the first year to go from nursery to leaving in year 6. I am now training to be a primary teacher and I have seen some schools but nothing compares to what I remember, especially the amount of focus placed upon reading. I would just like to say a big thankyou as I was unaware how lucky I was to attend such a good school.

    Yours Thankfully,
    Jack.

    1. Lovely to hear from you Jack and I wish you all the best in becoming a teacher. We don’t often hear what becomes of ex pupils so we were all pleased to find out that your chosen career is in teaching.Quite a few members of staff remember you from your time at The Deans and what a hard working and helpful member of the school you were.

  2. I went to The Deans from 1996 to 2001, and I would just like to show my appreciation for what an excellent school The Deans is, and how fond my memories are of it. I was proud when I heard how highly commended the school was in the recent government school survey.

After leaving The Deans I went to Bury Grammar School, and I am currently in my final year (upper 6th form). I have just accepted a conditional offer to study Natural Science at Cambridge University from next Septemer. And I will always appreciate the fantastic start in education that The Deans gave me.

    Sincerely,
    Richard Barker

  3. Hi
congrats! Listened with great interest on Radio 4’s PM programme on the way home.
I’m a Literacy o-ordinator and would be very interested in your reading timetables for each class, particularly in KS2 e.g do all KS2 read in guided reading groups every day or do you target some children every day and others several times a week etc. and also how do you organise reading skills activities in KS2.How much help and support does each class have? I’m trying to re-organise our approach to reading, building on what is already good and want to be creative – not buy in another package! I would appreciate any advice.
I’m a Year 4 teacher and I’d be really interested to communicate with other Year 4 teachers and / or the Literacy co-ordinator. I live and work in Jersey.
Many thanks – particularly if anyone finds the time at this time of year to reply!
    I’ll understand!

  4. Hi there,
Just wanted to congratulate you on you great success! As a teacher I understand the hard work and dedication which has gone in to obtain this fanstastic achievement for your school! Well done!

Could you possibly advise whether you are following new skills based curriculum in order to achieve such results?

Many thanks and congratulations once again!

  5. Hi there
I hope you have time to answer this mail as I am sure you must be busy with the end of term and the like. I am a teacher of English and like yourselves believe in the creed of reading for children.
I would very much like to know your policies and how you motivate the students to read. If you have a reading list then that would be great as well.
Look forward to hearing from you and CONGRATULATIONS on being a wonderful school
    Julian Walter
