Birds of Prey and Owl Pellets with The Swinton High School

We have had a fantastic afternoon dissecting owl pellets! Owls regurgitate pellets of the indigestible parts of smaller animals, such as small birds, mice, voles and even some rats. We have been laboratory detectives, with the help from teachers at The Swinton High School, dissecting the pellets to find the bones of these small animals. We also found out about birds of prey and we were lucky enough to see five different birds of prey in the hall.  Can you remember what they were?

If you want to find out more about the birds and where they have come from, have a look at:

Some more photos are on the Y3 & Y4 blogs.  Many thanks to The Swinton High School for  organising the afternoon and for many of the photographs.
