At Moorside High School the children filtered rock salt. We used a bunson burner to evaporate the water and were left with SALT! We also trapped methane gas in bubbles of soapy water and set light to the bubbles. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

Science activities with Manchester Metropolitan University
MMU brought a variety of activities for our Early Years and Key Stage 1 children to try, including some wonderful, blue, gooey mixture, and a digital microscope.
Acids and Alkalis
This afternoon some teachers from Swinton High School came in to teach us about Acids and alkalis. The children were challenged to make a neutral solution which was neither acid or alkali. The children used a special paper which turned different colours depending on whether the solution was acid, alkali or neutral.
